# 4th Gen Tacoma Lift Kits and Tire Sizes: What Fits at Stock, Leveled and on 35s (2024+)

> **Quick answer:** At stock height, a 285/70R17 (32.7″) fits a 2024+ Tacoma on the factory wheels, and owners are running 285/75R17 (33.8″) on stock TRD Off-Road wheels with no rub or a sliver of plastic trimmed. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter's wider 18x8.5 +20 wheels take 285/70R18 with everything in place and 295/70R18 with the crash bar and mud flaps off. 35s fit with a 2.5″ preload-collar or spacer lift on +20 to +25 wheels after removing the front crash brackets and mud flaps; nobody has needed a cab mount chop on this truck yet. Lift kits run from $400 (ReadyLift spacers) to $5,300+ (King with UCAs); the SR's leaf rear and the hybrids' extra 400–470 lb change what fits. Any lift over about 2″ needs the TSS cameras and radar recalibrated, which is the cost owners forget. Compiled from manufacturer pages and documented owner builds, labeled below.

> **At stock height, a 285/70R17 (32.7″) fits a 2024+ Tacoma on the factory wheels**, and owners are running **285/75R17 (33.8″)** on stock TRD Off-Road wheels with no rub or a sliver of plastic trimmed. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter's wider 18x8.5 +20 wheels take **285/70R18** with everything in place and **295/70R18** with the crash bar and mud flaps off. **35s fit with a 2.5″ preload-collar or spacer lift** on +20 to +25 wheels after removing the front crash brackets and mud flaps; nobody has needed a cab mount chop on this truck yet. Any lift over about 2″ needs the **TSS cameras and radar recalibrated**, which is the cost owners forget. Compiled from manufacturer pages and documented owner builds, labeled below.

Third gen Tacoma owners learned that 33s meant a body mount chop and 35s meant a cutting wheel. The 4th gen changed the math: wider track on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter, more room behind the front wheel, and removable plastic where the old truck had steel. This guide lays out the factory specs by trim, what owners have fitted at each lift height, every major kit with its price and lift, and the two things the 4th gen adds to the bill, hybrid weight and driver-assist recalibration.

**How we sourced this.** Factory tire sizes are from Toyota's 2025 and 2026 owner's manuals and Goodyear's fitment data. Wheel offsets come from owner measurements and tire-shop replies on Tacoma4G, since Toyota does not publish them. Lift heights and prices are from the makers' and retailers' pages in October 2026. Fitment results are owner builds, and we say which trim, wheel and lift each one used. Diameters are calculated from the tire size.

## Factory Tire and Wheel Specs by Trim

| TRIM | FACTORY TIRE | DIAMETER | WHEEL | REAR SUSPENSION |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| SR | 245/70R17 | 30.5″ | 17x7 | **Leaf springs** |
| SR5 | 245/70R17 | 30.5″ | 17x7 | Coil multilink |
| TRD PreRunner | 265/70R17 | 31.6″ | 17x7.5 | Coil multilink |
| TRD Sport | 265/65R18 | 31.6″ | 18x7.5 (18x8 optional, about +45) | Coil multilink |
| TRD Off-Road | 265/70R17 | 31.6″ | 17x7.5, about +55 | Coil multilink |
| Limited | 265/65R18 | 31.6″ | 18x7.5, +55 | Coil multilink |
| TRD Pro (hybrid only) | 265/70R18 | 32.6″ | 18x8.5, about +20 | Coil multilink, Fox QS3 internal bypass, 3″ wider track |
| Trailhunter (hybrid only) | 265/70R18 | 32.6″ | 18x8.5, about +20 | Coil multilink, Old Man Emu 2.5″ with piggyback reservoirs |

Three details matter for everything below. The **SR is the only leaf-spring truck**; most kits exclude it, and its rear parts are different. The **hub bore is 95 mm** (older Tacomas were 106 mm), so 3rd gen spacers and hub-centric wheels do not carry over. Bolt pattern stays 6x139.7 with M14x1.5 studs. And the **TRD Pro and Trailhunter sit about 2″ higher in front and 1.5″ in the rear** than the other trims from the factory, on wheels with 35 mm less offset, which is why they swallow bigger tires without a lift.

### Stock height

| TRIM | WHEEL | TIRE | RESULT (OWNER REPORTS) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| SR5 | Factory 17″ | 285/70R17 (32.7″) | Fits with room to spare, air dam left on |
| TRD Off-Road | Factory 17x7.5 +55 | 285/70R17 | No rub |
| TRD Off-Road | Factory 17x7.5 +55 | 285/75R17 (33.8″) | No rub for one owner; another on −10 wheels trimmed a small amount of plastic in the front wheel well; a third says it touches the liner at full lock off road |
| TRD Sport | 17x8 +25 | 285/70R17 | No rub, close at full lock |
| TRD Off-Road | 17x8 +20, or factory wheels with 1″ spacers | 285/70R17 | No rub |
| TRD Off-Road hybrid | 17x8.5 +35 | 285/75R17 | No rub with the crash bracket still on |
| TRD Pro / Trailhunter | Factory 18x8.5 +20 | 275/70R18 (33.2″) | No rub, no trimming |
| TRD Pro / Trailhunter | Factory 18x8.5 +20 | 285/70R18 (33.7″) | Fits with everything stock; the spare just fits under the bed |
| TRD Pro / Trailhunter | Factory 18x8.5 +20 | 295/70R18 (34.3″) | Crash bar and mud flaps removed; rubbed until caster was adjusted; the spare does not fit under the bed |
| Limited hybrid | 18x9 +20 | 275/70R18 | About a finger of clearance to the fender at full lock |

**What touches first.** Owners name the same four spots on every build: the **front crash (body mount) bracket**, which is removable and has an aftermarket delete kit for about $50; the **front mud flaps and the fender edge where the flap clips**; the **fender liner at full lock**; and, on 35s, the **lower front bumper edge**. Nobody has reported needing the 3rd gen's cab mount chop.

**Offset and poke.** The factory wheel on most trims is about +55. Owners describe +35 as nearly flush, and +20 to +25 as a visible poke with the tire shoulder outside the fender. Lower offset helps a 285 clear the upper control arm but moves the tire toward the fender and flap.

### Leveled, 1.5–2.5 inches

- **ReadyLift's 2.5″ SST** (spacers, $399.95): the maker says 285/75R17 on a 17x8 +35 wheel fits with no trimming. ReadyLift notes it has not tested the TRD Pro or the hybrids.
- **Westcott preload collars** (2.5″ front, 0.75″ rear, about $465–515): an owner runs **35x11.50R17** mud terrains on +25 wheels with the mud flaps and crash plates off and no cutting. The retailer listing claims up to a 35″ tire without a body mount chop.
- **ICON Stage 1** (1.25–3″): ICON's own recommended maximum is **33x11.50**; larger needs fender trimming.
- 285/70R17 on the factory 17″ wheel is the no-drama leveled setup on every non-Pro trim.

### 35s

| BUILD | LIFT | WHEEL | WHAT IT TOOK |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TRD Off-Road, 35x12.50R17 Toyo M/T | Preload collar (height not stated) | 17x9 +25 beadlock | Modified fender liner, one bracket removed; no rub reported |
| 35x11.50R17 Nitto M/T | Westcott collars | +25 | Mud flaps and crash plates removed; no cutting |
| 35″ M/T | Not stated | 20x9 | A thin strip trimmed at the bottom of the front fender at the flap clips |
| 2025 TRD Pro hybrid, 35″ Trail Grapplers | Factory Pro suspension | Factory 18x8.5 | Lower fenders cut and folded, front bumper trimmed about 1.25″, inner liners cut and tucked |
| TRD Off-Road, 35x12.50R17 test fit | About 3″ | 17x8.5 0 offset | Body mount bracket removed, lower bumper edge trimmed; very little rub |

The pattern: 35s on a 4th gen are a plastics job, not a metal job, as long as the wheel offset is in the +20 to +25 range. Zero offset on a 35 pushes the tire into the bumper. Rear fender clearance on 35s has been asked about on the forums and not clearly answered; check it on your own truck at full compression.

## Lift Kits: Height and Price

Prices are the maker's or a retailer's listed price in October 2026 and move around with sales.

| KIT | TYPE | LIFT (FRONT / REAR) | PRICE | NOTES |

| Toyota TRD lift (4th gen) | Dealer kit | 2.5″ / 2″ (owner reports) | $2,950–3,400 factory-ordered | Reported on stop-sale from August 2025 into 2026; no public part number |

**Fox's 2.5 Factory Race coilovers** are listed for 2005–2023 Tacomas only; for the 4th gen Fox sells the 2.5 Performance Elite and 3.0 Factory Race.

## The Hybrid Problem

The i-FORCE MAX trucks weigh **400–470 lb more** than the gas versions of the same trim (Toyota's published curb weights: TRD Off-Road 4,630 vs 5,030 lb; TRD Sport 4,575 vs 5,045; Limited 4,715 vs 5,170), and the battery sits over the rear axle. Owners report hybrids sagging about 3/4″ in the rear on springs rated for the gas truck, and one went to 600 lb front springs on King coilovers. No major brand sells a hybrid-specific kit; Eibach labels hybrid fitment, and Dobinsons and OME handle it with their heavier rear spring ratings. If you own a hybrid, pick the spring rate for the hybrid's weight plus your gear, not the base truck.

## The ADAS Bill

Toyota Safety Sense on the 4th gen uses a windshield camera and a front radar that are aimed for the stock ride height. Owners who lifted 2.5–3.5″ report **"System Malfunction" warnings and lost adaptive cruise and lane keeping** until the system was recalibrated; one did it with Techstream, others paid the dealer. ICON states recalibration is required after its kit. Budget roughly **$700–1,000** for calibration plus alignment at a dealer if you are not doing it yourself, on top of $600–700 for an independent shop install or $2,000–2,700 at a dealer. That is the line item 3rd gen owners never had.

## Before You Buy: The Shock Recall

If your truck is a 2024–2025 built between January and November 2024 with external-reservoir shocks, it may be in **NHTSA recall 26V514**: the welded flange on the reservoir can corrode and let the reservoir detach. Toyota's remedy is free replacement of the shocks, with the final fix expected in 2027. Get the recall done, or confirm your VIN is clear, before paying anyone to replace shocks you could have had replaced for free. Details are in our [Tacoma recall tracker](https://toyotadata.com/guides/toyota-tacoma-recall-tracker-2016-2026/).

## Gearing, Mileage and Speedometer

A 285/70R17 is about 7% taller than the 245/70R17 on an SR5, and a 35 is 15% taller. Owners report roughly 3 mpg lost on 285s, more on 35s, and the speedometer reads slow. Our [regear chart](https://toyotadata.com/guides/toyota-regear-chart-tire-size-gear-ratio-rpm/) shows the effective ratio change, and the [cost of 33s vs 35s guide](https://toyotadata.com/guides/cost-of-bigger-tires-toyota-tacoma-4runner-33-vs-35/) totals what the tires, wheels, lift and regear add up to.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is the biggest tire on a stock 2024 Tacoma?

285/70R17 (32.7″) fits on the factory wheels of the SR5, TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road with no changes, and owners run 285/75R17 (33.8″) on stock TRD Off-Road wheels with no rub or a small trim. The TRD Pro and Trailhunter fit 285/70R18 stock and 295/70R18 with the crash bar and mud flaps removed.

### Will 35s fit a 4th gen Tacoma?

Yes, with a 2.5″ spacer or preload-collar lift, wheels around +20 to +25 offset, and the front crash brackets and mud flaps removed. Some owners trim the fender liner or the lower bumper edge. No owner has reported needing a cab mount chop.

### What is the factory wheel offset on a 2024 Tacoma?

About +55 mm on the TRD Off-Road and Limited (17x7.5 and 18x7.5), per owner measurements and tire-shop data; about +20 on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter's 18x8.5 wheels. The hub bore is 95 mm and the pattern is 6x139.7.

### Do you need to recalibrate Toyota Safety Sense after lifting a Tacoma?

Owners who lifted 2.5″ or more report system malfunction warnings and lost adaptive cruise until the camera and radar were recalibrated, and ICON states recalibration is required after its kit. Expect roughly $700–1,000 at a dealer with alignment.

### Does the Tacoma hybrid need a different lift kit?

No brand sells a hybrid-only kit, but the hybrid is 400–470 lb heavier and owners report extra rear sag on gas-truck springs. Choose a kit with rear springs rated for the added weight (Dobinsons, OME) or one that lists hybrid fitment (Eibach).
