"content_markdown": "> QUICK ANSWER\n>\n> **NHTSA lists 31 safety recalls for the 2013–2026 RAV4.** The most serious are the **2019–2020 engine casting porosity** recall (**20V064**, coolant leak and stall), **front lower control arms** that may break (**20V286**), **loss of power steering assist** (**20V373**), **fuel pump failure** (**20V682**), the **RAV4 Prime DC-DC converter** fire risk (**23V478**), and the newest, **improper front seat bracket welds** on the 2025 RAV4 (**26V256**). Every campaign has a free remedy. Enter your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see which apply to your vehicle.\n\nThe RAV4 has a long recall list, and most of it is minor: load and tire labels make up almost a fifth of it. But a handful are real mechanical issues, concentrated in the 2019 and 2020 model years and in the Prime. This tracker lists every campaign NHTSA returns for the RAV4, newest first, so you can check your model year against it before you call a dealer.\n\n**How this list is built.** We queried NHTSA's recalls-by-vehicle service for the Toyota RAV4 for model years 2013 through 2026 on October 20, 2026, then read each campaign's summary and remedy. \"Received\" is the month Toyota reported the defect to NHTSA. We list powertrain from the campaign text; some campaigns cover other Toyota and Lexus models too. NHTSA lists **25V744** for the RAV4 through its vehicle lookup even though its summary text does not name the model. Recall status changes, so use your VIN to confirm what is open on a specific vehicle.\n\n## All RAV4 Recalls, Newest First\n\n| NHTSA | RECEIVED | MODEL YEARS | POWERTRAIN | DEFECT | WHAT DEALERS DO |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| **26V659** | Oct 2026 | 2026 | Prime | Motor generator ECU error: the plug-in hybrid system can reduce power or shut down at higher speed | ECU software update |\n| **26V571** | Sept 2026 | 2026 | Hybrid | Incorrect load label | Replace label (letters expected Oct 18, 2026) |\n| **26V256** | Apr 2026 | 2025 | Gas | Improper welds on front seat brackets | Inspect and repair welds (letters mailed June 19, 2026; Toyota codes 26TB09 / 26TA09) |\n| **26V179** | Mar 2026 | 2024–2025 | Hybrid | Incorrect load label | Replace label |\n| **25V744** | Oct 2025 | 2023–2025 | All | Rearview camera display | Parking assist software update |\n| **25V595** | Sept 2025 | 2023–2025 | All | Instrument cluster display | Software update, over the air on non-Prime models |\n| **24V911** | Dec 2024 | 2024 | Gas | Brake line can be damaged by the caliper bracket | Inspect and tighten the bracket and bearing bolts |\n| **23V865** | Dec 2023 | 2020–2021 | Gas and hybrid | Occupant classification sensor fault; the passenger air bag may not deploy | Inspect and replace the sensor |\n| **23V734** | Nov 2023 | 2013–2018 | Gas | Aftermarket 12V battery may not fit the clamp, risking a short and fire | Replace battery clamp sub-assembly, tray and positive terminal cover (letters mailed Dec 27, 2024) |\n| **23V485** | July 2023 | 2023 | Gas, 17 in wheels | Wheel valve stem problem can cause underinflation | Inspect and replace valve stems and the load label |\n| **23V478** | July 2023 | 2021–2022 | Prime | DC-DC converter short, with a fire risk | Owners advised not to charge below 41°F until the converter is replaced |\n| **23V041** | Feb 2023 | 2021 | Prime | Hybrid system can stall the engine | HEV ECU software update |\n| **22V519** | July 2022 | 2022 | All | Occupant classification sensor | Inspect and repair the front passenger seat |\n| **22V239** | Apr 2022 | 2021–2022 | Prime and hybrid | Electronic stability control can deactivate | Skid control ECU software update |\n| **20V734** | Nov 2020 | 2020 | Gas and hybrid | Frontal air bag | Replace the steering column |\n| **20V698** | Nov 2020 | 2021 | Prime | Headlight aim cap | Close the aiming caps |\n| **20V682** | Nov 2020 | 2019–2020 | Gas | Fuel pump failure can stall the engine | Replace the fuel pump assembly |\n| **20V373** | June 2020 | 2019–2020 | Gas and hybrid | Electric power steering can lose assist | Replace the steering gear box |\n| **20V286** | May 2020 | 2019–2020 | Gas and hybrid | Front lower control arm may break | Replace both arms |\n| **20V064** | Feb 2020 | 2019–2020 | Gas and hybrid (2.5L) | Porosity in the engine casting can cause a coolant leak, overheating or a stall | Inspect and replace the engine, including the block, as necessary (began Apr 3, 2020) |\n| **19V576** | Aug 2019 | 2019 | Gas and hybrid | Backup camera | Inspect and replace the audio unit as needed |\n| **19V544** | July 2019 | 2019 | Hybrid | Brake booster pump and stability control | Replace the pump if necessary (began Sept 20, 2019) |\n| **19V503** | June 2019 | 2017–2019 | Gas | Incorrect load label | Corrected label |\n| **19V244** | Mar 2019 | 2019 | Gas | Incorrect load label | Corrected label |\n| **17V831** | Dec 2017 | 2018 | Gas | Incorrect load label | Corrected label |\n| **17V295** | May 2017 | 2017 | Gas | Spare tire pressure | Inspect and adjust |\n| **16V236** | Apr 2016 | 2016 | Gas | Tire label | Corrected label |\n| **16V198** | Apr 2016 | 2016 | Gas | ABS and traction brake actuator can give insufficient brake pressure | Replace the actuator as needed |\n| **15V144** | Mar 2015 | 2014–2015 | Gas | Electric power steering ECU and steering column | Inspect the serial number |\n| **15V011** | Jan 2015 | 2013–2015 | Gas | Trailer hitch module may cut off trailer lights | Replace the module |\n| **14V828** | Dec 2014 | 2014–2015 | Gas | Accessory bolts | Tighten the bolts |\n\n## The Ones Worth Knowing About\n\n**Engine casting porosity (20V064, 2019–2020).** Porosity in the engine casting can allow a coolant leak, overheating or a stall.
